skipping into december

December 1, 2019

You're invited to the fifth edition of the

Northampton Book and Book Arts Fair

on Friday, December 6th, 2019, 5 to 9 pm
and Saturday, December 7th, 2019, 10 am to 4 pm
at the Northampton Center for the Arts,
33 Hawley Street, Northampton, Massachusetts 01060

Some of the region’s leading used & antiquarian booksellers and fine letterpress printers, book binders, and artist book makers will be showcased at the fair.
Admission to the book fair is free and open to the public.

Book fair exhibitors represent some of the best used and antiquarian booksellers in New England and beyond. Our exhibitors work in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire, New York, and New Jersey. We're proud to be able to share the work of celebrated book artists, fine printers, and fine book binders.

i hope to be there, weather permitting, and hope to also see dear friends, meet new folks, and have a great time seeing the work of several book arts rock stars. i’m really looking forward to it. if i wasn’t struggling so hard to blog today, i’d add in other news, but let’s suffice it to say this is the thing on MY radar. OH, and i found the box of my prints (buried by the move from hell) and so actually have inventory for the event. books, contact prints, a few contact printed scarves, and some handmade paper.

DO STOP BY!!!

October 27, 2019

since i last wrote many events have danced through my life

the big change

the locking

of september into october

and now, to leaflessness

almost.

barb making flax paper

barb adams, a dear one from australia, came to the north country to visit along with nigel, her husband, we visited caliban, slu, lampson falls, the art gallery of ontario, and my little house in the woods. barb brought along the makings for my little bookish group to make a new structure.

this changed into leaflessness in these weeks

this changed into leaflessness in these weeks

and we are close to november, the month showing off the land’s bones.

i love this time.

i love the bareness.

i love the cool nights and warmer days,

today’s brisk rains,

and the heartbreaking thin sunshine on others.

over at MAIWA my may 2020 class is advertised (along with a huge selection of good classes)

i am also teaching at slu (st lawrence university) this spring semester: bookbinding.

and this saddest thing about htis post is how long it took me to publish

and once i was (finally) almost done

it vanished.

so i’m posting this now.

reverse POOF (i hope).
