one thousand

a new day/year
milkweed seed fiber becoming paper:
i made my first sheets of milkweed paper
doing the gathering out back (on skis)
stripping fiber in my kitchen
sheetforming in the mill, using the tororo aoi i'd grown,
(that mill called wake robin)
it was about 27 years ago.
and these days?
well i wander some
looking
for pattern
and meaning and something a bit hard to catch.
and today i sit here
bundled up and listening to the wind gusting with new snow.
i ponder with astonishment
i am here, still, writing into the ethers.
the one thousandth time.
geesh.
thank you all for coming over to visit.
wouldn't it be grand to sit down together
for tea and conversation?
or
take a walk in my woods
looking for little miracles?
wild apples, perhaps?

luna

today's news:

some sunshine, lots of amazing clouds and almost 60 degrees. no kidding.

something from ian, a new web presence! several tin cans is an anagram for his name.

i also received notification that my book actias luna is to be included in the upcoming 1000 artists' books by sandra salamony.

my old friend, poet jim cohn, has written about his sojurn in the north country and making paper here at wake robin. his delight in the paper covered windows is something i remember and share. i have his poems prairie falcon, which i treasure.

and i wrapped up a couple of bundles and put them in pickle juice. they'll stay there for a bit.
